New workshops up now !

So, I finally got around to getting new workshops up online, there are a few new ones, just waiting for confirmation of some more dates and I will be releasing a couple of repeats .. UTEE/Meltpot & Ranger weekend, so watch the website for more workshops as they are released ...
New ones include the Altered Technique Tag book ..I get the impression this one might fill up fast lol, We will be starting on a friday evening, over a glass of wine and some chocolate .. we will be altering a book , creating technique tags to go in it and writing on the opposite page of the book all about the actual technique, so how cool will that be ! tags, techniques and an altered book. So you get to do Friday evening, all day saturday 10-4 and all day suinday 10-4 too ! There is even a really nice B&B right across the road ... talk about making things easy !

Still got spaces ...

Just a quick blog to say that the UTEE workshop & the Ranger Workshop are now fully booked, But there are spaces on Altered Scrapbook Workshop, which is on Saturday 14th January. 10 - 4pm. The Price is £30.00

So,what is it ? ... this is no ordinary scrapbook, we upcycle an old hardback book, we add papers, paints and inks, we fold, tear and create, we add the photographs, journal & embellish. You get to start your very own totally unique altered scrapbook.
All you need to provide are the photographs ... a good selection is recommended, it is often easier to work the book on a theme, whether it's a holiday or a see your child / family grow book. If you have memorabilia or anything else that is related to your photographs please bring it along with you. and you will need to bring your lunch with you.
Tea, Coffee, Juice & snacks are provided.
All tools, kit & product are provided.

It's been a busy few weeks (again) just for a change ! My folksy shop has sold out except for 2 items, can't get enough time to get more done either ... School nativity scenery was painted, almost finished, rained on, washed off and re-painted again last week, and of course there were the last two workshops which were Junque Journal and Configurations box. I'll keep the writing short & sweet and instead share some pictures of the goings on :DThe calm before the junque :

NEC update & NEW Stamps !!

So, finally return to my blog after a VERY busy 4 days at the NEC, I must have made about 150 tags in that time ... the ink is still staining my fingers lol :DI met some absolutely fab people, some new & some old friends, good to see them all.I've taken a few pics of a handful of tags that weren't given away to share with you.

This one has the Tim Holtz Cog & Bird sizzix Die-cuts, plus my very own hot off the press New stamps ... these were taken from the "Rooted in Earth" set. Find that HereNext we have this one :

Busy getting ready for the NEC next week .. is anyone going ? Do come and see me if you are, I shall be demonstrating on the Artist Trading post stand B41 at the NEC From Thursday 3rd November until Sunday 6th November. Hello .... so much happening again behind the scenes ...

... I don't seem to have much time to tell you about it all ! Well I've finally made it on so I can give you a few sneak peeks & bits of news.Hmmm, where to start, well there's new workshops in the pipeline, there's a sneaky peek below of just one of them, they should ( should !) be on the website

by the end of this month ... so I'm busy arranging venues and dates at the moment !

What can I say ... this pictures clue is Ranger ..lot's of it & over a weekend !

Oh my goodness .... I'm back !

Yep, it seems I'm finally getting better, I've made it back to blogland ! For those who don't know why I've been AWOL, An unexpected 10 day stint in the hospital with Kidney stones, Kidney drain, Ruptured kidney, urosepsis etc etc has had me in it's grasp, fortunately I've been home recovering for the last 2 weeks and am finally starting to feel like myself again, it's not all over yet, I still have the drain & the stones and will be having a few more visits to the hospital to sort it all out ! .. But that I can live with now that I am feeling so much better.
So, I managed (with a lot of help from my wonderful family) to keep the Art Journaling weekend on course, it's just taken me a couple of weeks to get it on here.
so without further ado here's what we got up to :

As you can see it was another busy weekend, everyone was just fab, I wasn't allowed to do a thing apart from teach, so thank you to everyone for your understanding & fun ... it made me feel soooo much better just being there with you all :D x

I have another place to recommend you go have a look ... Crafting Ireland It's a beautiful online magazine with some fantastic tutorials and idea's ...Timi one of the editors came to the art journaling workshop and introduced me to this brilliant site, so please do go & have a look, you wont be disapointed ! :D x

Using my Circus Stamps ...

So, I decided it was time I had another play with my own brand of stamps "Stamps for the Creative Journey" This time I chose to use the Circus set. There are some fab stamps on here, I think the elephant & the uni-cyclist are my fav's though the dogs pretty cute too !

I decided to make a Tag book (a la Tim Holtz style) I love these little books, they have so many uses.
I made my books from Graphic 45 papers Le Cirque Flying High and Magnifique

I also created lot's of tags to go in the pockets, all ready for photo's or journaling or maybe both ...

I finished off the front with stamped images of the tickets, one behind a Facet
and one stamped on to a tag cut out with a Sizzix die I added a Washer over the hole and attached both pieces to some bead chain using jump rings.

Hope you like it, there's another circus stamp project coming very soon !

I have returned from 12 very sunny days in S'agaro Spain, with more journal pages completed after spending most days lazing round the pool or on the beach (it's a hard life ...)

Been playing in my art journal ...

Yep, I've actually found some me time & have been playing, these pages were totally inspired by Christy Tomlinson's blog Here, the post is about 1/2 way down, but it's a beautiful blog well worth a look, so go enjoy !
I couldn't resist having a go, then Saskia my daughter came up into the studio & has started a canvas so that she too can have a go with this very effective technique.
Here's the pictures, no journaling has yet touched the page, but I'm not sure that it will either. The Live life was done using Rangers Adirondack dimensional pearls, it wrote really well, can see me using this again too ! You can get these from

New workshops up online now ...

So after a busy couple of weeks of school productions, scenery painting & stage building, Workshop preparation and workshop and sample making I've found 5 minutes to get a card made for my younger brother Kris & his girlfriend Becky who are moving house today (that's something else I shall be doing in 1/2 an hour, off to help them move) Kris & Becky are the brains behind :LittleBigTree

& this is the quick card I made them ...
& here is a picture of the lovely girls all ready to start the ABC book of me workshop last Thursday ... there was some fabulous work produced there !!

It seems like a very long time since I was last on here, so without further ado I will blog :D
I've just been playing with my London Stamps which you can find here :here at Creative Journey Workshops
( I was excited to see them in print in July's Craft Stamper magazine !)
I've wanted to do something Dr Who'ish with the old police telephone box, so I've just inked up this tag, added the words with some mini letter stamps I have and there we have an ideal Dr Who party invite !

A fine time was had by all ....

So, the mini Holtz Holiday has been & gone, we spent all day Saturday & Sunday playing with a bountiful stash of Ranger & Tim Holtz Products, we made a book housing 9 tags and also a mini Holtz Tag book ... so we were busy busy busy, but everyone kept up admirably & produced some beautiful works of artfulness !
So Thank you to Sharon, Sarah, Matt, Halina, Alex, Linda, Sandy, Bernice, Pam & June for making the weekend so much fun x

Good morning all you woyww'ers ! .. I haven't been around for a while as I just haven't had time to bloghop, I'm hoping this week will be different !
On my desk this morning is some of my stash from Holland, I can't wait to get playing with that, there is that fabulous wire corset by Stampington, a lovely little bird cage with a white porcelain bird in it by Prima, a fab "Call me" stamp from Unity stamps,a wooden hanger, some wooden spools, a lovely stamp from De Craftorij's own line of stamps and some rather lovely watch/clock cogs ...

So here ares ome of the photo's from my lovely weekend away. BIG thanks to Lia & Joan for making us feel so welcome, & it was great to catch up with Linda E even if she did tell big fibs about me breaking her handbag with a story (See linda's blog for that!) It turned out it wasn't part of the original bag I broke, It was a charm from Next ...Bad bad Linda lol :D
We did make & takes, ate lot's of lovely food, did workshops, went to the beach on Sunday, generally had a FAB time ... we also met some really lovely ladies whilst we were there too !
Lia's shop is glorious ... huge, full of LOVELY stash(some of which naturally had to come home with me :o) )
I also want to thanks Rob & Marcell, Joan & Lia's lovely husbands who cooked for us & drove us round ... & of course I have to mention Lia's adorable little girl Yasmine, once she got used to mine & Linda's craziness we had a lot of fun !

Off to Holland to teach at de-craftorij

Well, at least I will be on Thursday, Along with my intrepid pal Linda E (who of course you all know came to Ranger U with me & who I can't wait to have a good old catch up with!) We are heading off to de-craftorij, I shall be teaching an Art Journaling workshop and Linda is doing a Stampotique Screen ... should be lot's of fun ! But at the moment I have toothache, I managed to break a tooth and it's rather painful to say the least, so once I have had that fixed later on today I can start to plan what I need to take with me to Holland !

Time for some Art Journaling (again)

It's just one of those things that can't be left alone for very long, I purchased myself a new journal from Artist Trading post last week, and it was sitting there all shiny and new, waiting for me to add some colour, so of course being me I couldn't wait to oblige...
Here are some of the pages, pretty much all of them have been coloured, pocketed, folded and ready for some proper journaling, so I thought I'd show them to you now so that you see the work in progress.

I've been playing again, (I think it was in preference to sorting out this mess of a studio again!) I've been trying out my New & shiny (well not so shiny now as I don't really clean my stamps, as my workshopees will tell you) London and circus stamps again ... The photo's could be better, but I have to admit to being a lazy bum, after one trip from the top of the house to the bottom & back up just to get the camera I couldn't be bothered to go back down again to get a different lense, so I'm afraid these are taken with my macro lense, which would have been fine had I bothered to go & get my Tripod too ! ... so I held the camera as still as I could, but I swear even breathing makes a difference & I didn't really want to stop doing that,I'm not quite that lazy :o)
anyways without further ado ...

Anyone thinking of having a get together for the Royal wedding, these stamps are perfect for the occasion ...

And how about easy options for the men in your life, we all know how hard men are to make cards for, and the sporty themes do tend to wear a bit thin ...so how about these for the patriotic amongst you :D

Between New Stamps & Fashion shows I fit in a workshop over on 21 secrets at the dirty footprint studio, you can find it here it's always good to learn new techniques & stretch yourself ... I really like this style of journaling, think I will be doing more !

So two new workshops up online here
There is just soooo much going on behind the scenes here, & not a lot I can actually show you (not yet, anyways), I have redesigned my stamp sets, they needed a smidgeon of altering, they are just being readied for a new plate to be made, I'm mid way through a project for craft stamper (not allowed to show those on the blog) ... I'm also mid way through sorting out two workshops that I've been invited to do in Holland in May (will be going with Linda E ... is Holland ready for us ??) Once I have my new stamps I shall be busy making samples with them (and will share with you !) but I'm hoping that April (apart from all 3 kids being at home for half of it !) will be a little easier with more time for playing .. well I can dream lol :D

I've finally made it back to woyww .. after many weeks of absence, all I can say is there's lot's going on behind the scenes here & that there is a new workshop up online at Creative Journey Workshops (that's my new website that is still under construction) A mini Holtz Holiday ... a weekend of using Tim Holtz & Ranger products, creating Tags, learning techniques as you go & then creating a book to keep them all in ! ... you can find Workshops here
Now, what's on my desk today, well it's a bit of a mess getting, busy wth a workshop last saturday & now I've got another tomorrow so everythings a bit everywhere lol ... nevermind, I shall be popping out with my art journals shortly :o)

Just this once, it's not about craft ....

It's Shrove Tuesday, and to most people it means that it's pancake day. Here in Ashbourne Derbyshire it means something else entirely ... it's an event that is bigger than Christmas it's Shrovetide Football. Take a couple of thousand people, 1 Leather ball filled woth cork & hand painted, 2 goals 3 miles apart & in the river & your almost there ...Your born either side of the river which means you are an uppard or a downard ..(Uppards are best :D ) and that's your two teams. Everyone turns out for it, it starts at 2pm and carries on through until 10 pm or until the ball is scored. (If it's scored before 5pm another ball is turned up)
So rather than crafting today, I've been busy checking camera battery is charged..check ...new camera memory card purchased..check, charge mobile phone ..check
New thermal socks lol ..check, and I'm just about ready to go. Of course there will be pancakes before we go, what a perfect day & then if that wasn't enough we go & do the same again tomorrow :D So to give you just a hint of what is to come here are a few pictures .. & if it captures your imagination you can listen anywhere in the world online to Ashbourne Radio's commentary. www.ashbourneradio.co.uk

Flying into February ...

Hello, can you believe we're so far into february already ? .. just where is time going ? I've not been on here recently as there has been a lot going on behind the scenes in the Bates secret hideaway, there's not a lot to show you yet but I can tell you that there is going to be a new website appearing soon, with exciting things for you to purchase ... say no more !!
In the mean time I have been spending some spare time doodling in my journals again ... The first page is one I have done for my Art journaling group over on the "Little Big Tree" Craft social. This weeks prompt is " What inspires me" you can join in the fun here

Art Journal meanderings ...

So I escaped tidying the studio for a couple of hours today by going to the Bridge (wine bar/ cafe kind of a place) & playing in my art journal ... this is what I did today :

I like the idea of adding tags, pockets, doorways etc into my journals, similar to the altered books that I do ...there will be many more in this journal I think !
I've actually just about finished the studio tidy up now & it's Soooo much better .. I actually feel like creatuing again ... I can't work in a mess, I love a tidy desk lol :D
So hopefully now this is done much artwork will follow !

What I get up to on a 'day off'

So the kids were back at school ... DH was back at work & I went out with my art journal, It was SO right after weeks of being stuck at home through illness etc ... So to cut a short story even shorter here are some of my pages .. some are complete some are not but thought I'd share the process with you anyways :o)

Happy New Year ....

I'm finally back in my studio after 4 out of 5 of us having Flu, Christmas & New Year ...My mojo took a backseat for a while, but today I have been back playing & it's a GOOD feeling !
I've been working on a mixed media, beeswax canvas and I've also begun designing my own art journal sheets ...this is partly what's on the desk, also one of my art journals being prepped ready to take out to a cafe tomorrow once the last of the kids returns to school, I wanted to go before they broke up but we were all ill, so I've been waiting three weeks & can't wait any longer ... I NEED to go lol :D

Well, what can I say, I had the most lovely group of ladies to this workshop, we got creative,we got messy, we laughed, we even had a bit of christmas singing from some quarters lol :D Most of all we had 2 full days of FUN ... thanks girls you were all stars xx

Finally I've made it back, The snow is lying thick & white on the ground, the kids are off school, the kitchen is semi-complete, deadlines have been met and the Christmas shopping has at least been started !
Today I've been getting myself into gear for the forth coming 12 tags of Christmas Tag workshop, thought I perhaps ought to plan the tags lol, so here's a sneak peek at some of the ones that are done/ partially complete ...

I watched Invictus last night (film starring Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela) ... it was a very lovely and food for thought kind of a film, and the title of the film is taken from a poem by William. E Henley which the whole film revolves around, the last two lines of the poem I love very much, so I thought I would add the poem to an art journal for safe keeping. I haven't finished doodling etc yet, but this is it so far ...

Just a quick note to say that I'm sorry I've not been around much the last couple of weeks, Since the NEC I have been having a new kitchen fitted at home, but we have had to completely gut it, dig 12" out of the floor and basically start from scratch, we've had plumbers, electricians, plasterer, joiner etc etc in & out of the house, some of the time we've had no heating, water or more importantly no electric or broadband connection hence no blogging ! ... we're still a way from being finished but most of the messy work is done so I'm hoping I'll be back to the blog (& my crafty desk) next week ... so I'll see you there x

It wasn't too bad actually, but it's a good job there wasn't anymore, poor Sharon was surrounded by stock & stands in the front as well :D

What can I say, the show was brilliant, had SOOO much fun demo'ing for the four days, we started off the mornings using Tim Holtz distress inks then we did a couple of hours over the lunch time demo'ing Alcohol inks, followed by some art journaling with Claudine Hellmuth Studio line paints and also the Melt Pot, the problem was that we started off with over 700 distress inks on Thursday morning, by saturday evening we just had about a dozen left, and by last night it had dwindled to 3, So we had to keep finding things to demonstrate, I used the blending tools on the spinner and sold out of blending tools, I used alcohol inks, we ran out of Blending solution, I used the melt pot and we sold out of those too lol... it wasn't because we didn't take much, we did, we just sold A LOT, which is great but by Sunday I was down to filling a configurations box that Tim Holtz produces, I used the Tissue tape & filled it with all kinds of trinkets, the result was that we only had a few of those left by the end of the show too ! ... But I had a wonderful time with my Brother Jamie who owns Artist Trading Post, My sister in law Sharon & my Mum as we all worked together for the 4 days. One of the highlights of the show was meeting people who either follow my blog, I know through UK scrappers or have traded ATC's with previously (I always take a small stash of ATC's to shows, you never know who might want to trade !) SO if you came to see us at the show thank you, if you spent your hard earned cash with us, thank you Thank you :D :D
I will post a picture of the completed configurations box as soon as Jamie gets a chance to send one across to me (Poor Sharon & Jamie have the long task of emptying the stash and stands out of the car and putting them all back into the shop .. & in this awful weather too :( )

What's on your workdesk wednesday ... Well to be honest it would be easier to tell you what wasn't on my workdesk today, everything is pretty much being used on different samples and it all really needs tidying up, which I may have to do so that I can find everything to pack for the NEC later on today. If you haven't seen the post below you won't know that I'm heading off to the NEC for 4 glorious days of demo'ing .. I can't wait !!! :D So I need to sort out everything I need to take, get it packed up and ready to go. If you are heading to the NEC come and see me at the Artist Trading Post Stand (G50) Make sure you tell me who you are & that you read my blog, you never know I might even make you a tag lol :D
I also made this bracelet to go with my name badge (see yesterdays post) I had lot's of bits hanging about & decided that they would all go together perfectly :o)
I don't know when I'll get round to you all, NEC is thursday to sunday & we're also having the kitchen gutted starting at the end of this week so I shall be emptying it today .. so it may not be until the beginning of next week, but I'll do my best x

Sorry, sorry , sorry ..AWOL again !But here I am back at the computer after lot's of family time, adventures in London (twice in a week) 1/2 term, plus loads of hard work lol .. that's if you can call creating projects for magazines and new workshops hard work ! :D
I've also been busy getting things ready for the NEC, working out what I shall be demo'ing for 4 days, we go on Thursday this week and are there until Sunday .. Do come and see us if your there, we will be on stand G50. Got lot's of lovely stash on the Artist Trading post stand this year, I'll be demo'ing distress inks and re-inkers, Claudine Hellmuth studio line paints (art journal backgrounds and beads) and Alcohol inks techniques. I can't wait 4 whole days of playing :D

Next week we should hopefully have the new workshops online, the samples are being worked on as we speak !

Well I spent a happy couple of hours in a local bar/cafe journaling and drinking coffee :o)
(I did manage to have a bowl of their handmade chips too , well a girls got to keep her energy levels up :D)
The results of todays meandering are below, some are just backgrounds ready for stuff, some are 1/2 done waiting for either inspiration or more time to finish them & I think 1 or 2 may be finished (then again I might change my mind on that !)

Today my desk is busy with tags as I have a pile (18 of them) sample stamps that I am trying out .. have to say that I REALLY like these ! So I thought what better way to try them than distressing lot's of tags ( I do this by staring at them in a harsh way) and then I add some Tim Holtz inks :D
I only had about 30 minutes to play last night, so am looking forward to some more time this morning with them !

So many things started .. A LOT to finish lol :D ... still that's how I like it.
I have lot's of journal pages ready to do something with, so here they are in their unfinished / only just started state ...

Well it's been and gone again, another Art Journaling workshop, A FAB group of ladies and a lot of brilliant pages later & I'm back relaxing with a glass of wine lol :D
The girls (Becky, Sharon, Sarah, Patti & Emma) were lovely to work with all day, bags of enthusiasm & a willingness to try whatever lol :D .. Thanks for making my life such a breeze girls x

So it's that time of the week again already ! Sorry I didn't make it round so many desks last week, Artisan rather took over. I promise to do better this week, though it will be tomorrow rather than today !
On my desk (well on the small space that had any room on it is a little pile of interesting bits I picked up at Artisan ... there was a pile of beads too, but I did a bead loom workshop there & have already started using those .. will post a picture of the latest bracelet I'm making when it's done :o)

Well it's Tuesday afternoon & finally I can see my desk top again, Artisan was a huge amount of fun over Friday and Saturday,But it has left me with stash & goodies everywhere ! Then instead of tidying up I went off en famille to play Paintballing all day Sunday ! Now that WAS alot of fun lol :D but very exhausting after the two days at Artisan, still these things have to be done :D
Yesterday was busy sorting things out for today & tomorrow, I've been into school this afternoon teaching class 5 & 6 how to make a mini tag book and then tomorrow I'm helping out the company my husband works for at a Ploughing match .. no, I'm not the one doing the ploughing, nope I put on my best Hostess with the mostess disguise & serve tea, coffee & food to lot's of hungry farmers lol :D .. My husband works at an Agricultural & builders merchants & they have a stand there, so that's my Wednesday spoken for ! I am however REALLY looking forward to the Art Journalling workshop on Friday (think there are still a couple of places to be had)
The picture is early on Saturday morning at Artisan whilst myself & my Daughter were beginning to set up for the Distress Ink workshop. Both workshops were full with 20 people each day, which was lovely, could have been a tad upset if only 3 or so had turned up lol :D

& this one is mid way through the workshop :D

We met some lovely people there on both days, some who visit me on here, some who are regular customers at Artist Trading Post & some who come to my workshops here and made some new friends, perfect :D x

Well I've got to admit things are in a mess, I'm busy sorting out workshops for the Artisan show, I'm doing alcohol ink techniques on Friday & Distress ink techniques on Saturday ...Got a stack of leaflets on my desk about the workshops to take there, and some pre-painted grunge shapes too. Really looking forward to it, and there will be plenty of time for shopping & trading some ATC's too ... As well of course as helping out when needed on Artist Trading Posts stand... Mums going with us Friday and my daughter is going with us on Saturday so should be a lot of fun !

Good morning all you WOYWW'ers ..if your not a woyww'er, you've obviously not been to Stamping Ground hosted by the lovely Julia.
I admit I'm cheating today & am actually writing this last night lol ..if that makes sense :D I find there's often enough happening here, trying to get 3 kids off to school so this is one job I can do when it's a little less frantic lol !
So on my workdesk today is a pile of Mini books, ready for the mini book workshop on Friday ... some still need some tarting up but I'm getting there !
There's also a small art journal, pages painted up ready for the next layer .. other than that it's probably the same as last weeks lol, I've not really tidied up since then !
I'll visit as many of you as I can when I get back from the school run & dog walk, over a nice cup of coffee and some toast, let me know if you want some too ...

50th Birthday card

I mentioned last week that I'd made as requested by the teachers a card for one of the TA's at school for her 50th birthday, but I couldn't show it to you incase she saw it lol .. so today I thought I'd share it with you ...

I had a piece of Bronze coloured card from the school to use as my base as they wanted it to be a large card from them all, So I used my Tim Holtz Sizzix dies, the flower & the birdcage, I distress inked some card for the flower and mixed it with the bronze card and some of Tims lovely papers, I used buttons for the centres of the flowers and added some beaded trim to the bottom of the birdcaqe. I used a bundle of real twigs for the flower stems, bound together with some wire, and a strip of 7 Gypsies gaffer tape along the bottom.
The background was created with distress inks (that makes for a change then lol)and some paper artsy stamps.
Basically I just had real creative fun playing with it :D

Mini Paper your Nuts class :o)

Well it says it all in the title lol .. a paper your nuts mini class :D
This is something that myself & Linda Elbourne saw in America when we went to Ranger U together, they were in the craft store Micheals & were quite expensive so me & Linda decided they were something that we could definately reproduce at very little expense back home!

So start off by either going to your local hardware store (or your other halfs garden shed or garage .. wherever he keeps his stash lol) and grab yourself a handful of these babies :o)

Then you need to tear up some bits of an old book, or some newspaper. (really small pieces are good here)

Using glossy accents randomly stick on the pieces of paper to the nuts

Then using some distress ink (I used walnut stain) rub a little onto the paper using some cut'n'dry foam & voila you should have some papered nuts :D .. excellent embellishments for book rings or as charms on the ends of fibre ... on a blokey card on a wire .. anything, anywhere .. hope you have fun :D (you can also do this to metal washers too)

Having had a bit of a break from blogs etc over the summer I am now back with vengeance lol, I have 'pimped my blog' with new buttons for online mini classes, Workshops and a gallery ... I've updated my links tab and dusted down my keyboard in the process :D .. I've finally swapped my Apple Mac computer which I couldn't get on with for a PC with a huge memory etc that works really quickly and has made my life soooo much easier :D
On my WOYWW today you will be able to spy an Art Journal amongst other things, that's because I succumbed to some more of Dyan's collage sheets and they're so lovely I can't resist playing with them :D
I'll post a picture of the page when it's completed ...
There's also a pile of metal embellishments, some 7 gypsies Industrial Gears which just fell into my hands last time I went shopping at Jamies Artist Trading Post lol :D some paperartsy stamps that I love and well a whole array of everything else in between too !

It's all starting to take shape !

Finally ! I have worked out how to make buttons that link to my workshops, my gallery and my online mini classes, next is to set up my Etsy shop, and add more images to the gallery , but this is at least more than a start .. Hurrah !

I've done a card for the school, but I daren't show it to you just yet as it's not the persons birthday until Thursday, so I'd better wait & show you later in the week :o)

Vintage printers tray with curiosities ...

Did my husband want a vintage printers tray filled with curiosities for his birthday ? I have no idea, But yesterday he got one that I had made him. Here it is :

I got the tray from Artist Trading Post, (I don't believe that they are on the website because of the carriage .. but if your willing to pay a carriage charge then I'm sure Jamie would post one out to you .. give him a ring :o) )
I filled it with all sorts of paraphenalia, war medal, 2nd WW bullet casings (rich is into war history) there are some metal detector finds old coins etc, there are old bottles some with their original contents still in them, there are some very old glasses in a little leather case, all kinds of things that we managed to find :) .. and there are still plenty of spaces to add more things too.
I papered the backgrounds, each individual piece was cut out then inked with walnut distress ink, all the items (if more valuable & might want to get them out again are stuck in with glue dots, and the no value stuff is adhered with Glossy accents.

Then just before Rich's birthday we had been away in Spain for 12 days ... I took an art journal with me to play in, I tried to do the backgrounds before we went & took just one small folder of images, 1 gluestick & my art journalling pens to finish off the pages.

Altered Book workshop

Finally I've made it back to my computer to update my blog, this is what happens when the kids all break up from school & I feel that perhaps I really ought to do 'those' jobs that I avoid most of the time, we spent 4 hours yesterday, washing, drying & Ironing the backlog of clothes, & at the same time getting the boys to try on everything in their wardrobe, Sas did hers at the same time & we now have a good 4 bags of clothes for charity ... another good job done !
So back to the business in hand, I ran an altered book workshop on Tuesday, with 10 lovely ladies attending we had a full house & a very messy table ( for those of you who read my blog you'll know I find the messy table bit hard lol)

We did hand print opening pages, we made windows, opening doors, pockets & Niches & several different ways of folding the pages to add interest. We tried gesso'ing the pages out & leaving the type showing.

We got VERY messy but had fun playing with Colour washes from Ranger, Spray Inks from Dyan at Art from the heart, Distress Inks, Claudine Hellmuth studio line paints, Dabbers and piles of collaging materials.
The ladies were alot of fun, we had some of a younger generation along to play too, (thanks for coming Jo, Amy & Alex) :o)
BEtween them all they created some beautiful pages, I was suitably impressed with all of them & their first attempts at altering a book, (apart from Sue who has already altered a book :o) ... Even Bernice who wasn't at all sure about ripping pages out of the book before we started got into the swing of things & even started a second book when she got home, Blimey !

Well, I did say I was going to IKEA yesterday, & a good time was had by all. I got a few more bits and bobs for storage, so today I tidied, organised & even whizzed round the studio with the hoover ... yes really the hoover :o)
So in honour of my smart new space & bits of storage & the fact that I really want to play now, and infact have been doing here is the evidence :

It's that time of week again already, Last weeks scrapbooks for teachers were a success, in fact the letter one of them wrote me to thank me made me cry (again, but that's another story lol) ... needless to say it was an emotional week & I was glad to see it end !
Since last week I really haven't had time to do a thing, Monday & Tuesday were spent cleaning & tidying and sorting out the Boys bedroom, a job Loooong over due, 10 bin liners of just 'stuff' , and 8 storage boxes of unwanted toys later we can now see their floor, walk in one continuous line from the door to the far window (bedroom is 22 feet long to give you some size of scale) ... without any hops, skips or jumps to avoid things strewn haphazardly everywhere, no cursing because you've trodden on something, no near leg breaking as you slide along the floor on a discarded magazine, enough was enough & the dirty deed has been done, hence no playing for poor old me :o( ... Still today I am going to be decorating their room & then tomorrow we are heading off to IKEA I'm sure there will be some little treats hidden in that trip for me :o)
So here is my desk, not a lot happening except the Hearts CJ that I really NEED to get done for next Tuesday when I shall be giving it to the Host Bernice at my next workshop :o) If you have no idea why I'm sharing my desk with you then you need to visit the lovely Julia's page HERE

Art Journalling ...

Well it's the day all 3 kids break up from school & after an emotional 'leavers' week I was ready for a break so today I took one, I went down to a local bistro 'the bridge' and spent 2 hours art journalling over coffee :o) ... it was SO restoring, and I loved working in there, perfect place to watch the world go by & journal .. WILL be doing that again !!

Ok this is about as messy as I can bear to let my desk get, but as you see I have completed the 3 teachers leavers presents, the smaller two items are going to school today & the bigger scrapbook is going tomorrow ... so Jobs a good 'un !
So next job is to clear my desk to start prepping for the altered book workshop that we have in a couple of weeks time, unless I succumb to the pile of housework that has been calling my name ever since I got back from Ranger U, seems almost pointless with the kids breaking up on friday, but if I don't do it now it will be harder with them at home making more mess I suppose ... Hmmm maybe I'll do some house work & some playing .. there that sounds like a plan ! Gosh it's a week sgo already since my first Woyww, this week I've been busy trying to get an album done for a teacher who is leaving school after 17 years, she teaches my son a the moment & I came up with the idea & well it snowballed ..so here we are 40 + photo's and 40 page sides later .. project nearly done, it's only taken a couple of days, just need to trim it up now & embellish & tab etc ... then there's one more smaller album to do for another leaver and a tryptich for another leaver ... oh the joys :D
Can't wait until there's time just to play ! Still then I suppose the kids will be broken up & all 3 will be up here with me ..yippee lol

How naive can I get .. thought I'd have some quiet time in my studio whilst Rich & Cory were at Cricket Nets, No such luck lol .. Saskia & Brody have kept me company all morning ! But I have given them both an art journal to play in & this is what has been produced so far :

Tomorrow is Art Journalling Workshop day ... HURRAH !

Looking forward very much to tomorrow's workshop, Inky, painty, colour-washed fingers all round !
Got lot's of background techniques, Journalling Prompts, collaging and image transfers lined up for my lovely ladies :D going to be LOT's of FUN !!!
Infact as we speak my hands are covered in paint, the computer keyboard has some nice greeny blue hues on it lol :o)
Had so little time since getting home from Ranger to do anything, I originally had it planned that I would have a quiet restful week when I got home ... YEAH right .. Tuesday 9am arrive home. Tuesday afternoon rounders umpire for a school tournament, wednesday well that was school sports day, Thursday was shopping in preparation for the school Summer fair, Friday was getting ready at school for the fair (all day) ... friday night was the actual Fair .. amazing we raised over £3000 in the space of a couple of hours, this is our local village primary school with just 108 pupils, so I think that was Fabtastic going ! So was worth all the effort put in by everybody to get it organised !. Saturday was a blur of sleep, a pirate party fro Brody my youngest, and going out on saturday night (first time in a long time !) Yesterday was playing the organ at a local little chapel in the morning followed by a BBQ and watching England ( I would say playing football but they didn't so I won't)
So here we are and already it's nearly a week since myself & Linda were heading home ... just where did it go ? Anyhow, Here is a quick peek at one of my recent art journal pages x

Can you believe it's the last day already ? ..It has gone so fast, which although we knew it would, it still has to be said !
Last night I was too tired to tell you much so i just posted the photo's to make sure you had something to see incase i didn't get up early enough, But no here I am :o)

Goodness, it's warm in here again had to just the air-con back on I'm melting(I keep switching it off because i don't like the constant noise lol )
Anyway Back to the Ranger U story, So yesterday was Claudine & her paints

The Afternoon was spent doing Distress with the King of distress himself ...
Today we have Tim again all day & we're going to be doing everything 'Adirondack'the inks, the colourwashes (love them) The Dabbers, Alcohol inks ... Tim told us yesterday that we would be making 31 tags today .. so we're in for some fun !
